karma is getting sooo big now..

luc has now been transfered to a group home in kelowna for brain injury patients..
he seems to be doing well there so far. :)
other than that.. just been working and taking care of the monkey...

Luc is being transfered to the vernon hospital to wait it out to go to the rehab hospital in ponoka...
gonna be here within a week i guess.
Karma is doing well.. has 5 teeth and one more coming already.. getting big too :)
not much else to report..
Oh.. for anyone who had my former email addy..... I obviously dont have the shaw.ca account anymore..will get in touch with people once i get a new home base email...

Some people can't live like decent, normal human beings.
They can't just stand by a friend, they can't admit when they are wrong about something.
They think that no matter what, they are in the right.
They seem to beleive their own lies.

Hubby seems to be getting some memory ability back..
I told him i had bought Karma a new stroller cause we didnt have one for her, and he wanted to know how much i had spent on it.
I told him, and now its almost 3 weeks later and he still remembers how much i spent on it. I only had to tell him the once. :)

Good stuff :).

He is also getting better at conversation. He asks about the baby more, asks how im doing without me asking him how he is first.

I told him that Karma was making it hard for me to pack (she wont leave me alone for 3 mins cause she is sick, teething, and generally cranky lol), and he sighed and asked," do you want me to come home and pack? then you can take care of our monster." lol
Sweet of him to think like that.. I of course said that yes i wanted him home. but not before he was capable... he understood..
But he did say that he felt bad cause i had to pack, move, and take care of the baby by myself.
I told him not to worry cause the only thing i want him to be concerned with at the moment is his recovery, and that was his job. My job was to take care of the rest until he is better.

He is doing soooo well as far as im concerned. :)

Oh guess i should mention that he has now been officially accepted into the long term rehab. Just waiting on paperwork to be finished, and a bed to be open.

so yeah.. i guess they think he is doing well with rehab as well. :)

for a peice of equipment, i guess its kind of a medical device.
Gonna draw out some plans and try to find an invester, so i can build it.
Then gonna go see about getting it patented.. lol
Been looking around and havent seen anything like it at online medical device suppliers, so I think its a good idea. Wont go into it much here.. dont want someone to steal the idea..
I was thinking about ways to help Luc, and people with similar problems, and I was looking at my baby playing, and the idea just kinda sprung out at me.. And to be honest im kinda surprised that no one has done it yet. so...

anyway..gotta go get some more packing done.

Karma is keeping me on my toes these days.. no room to walk with the floor being taken up by a moving baby and her toys.. lol.

As you can see she is getting pretty good at moving around now ( and she really really likes to watch tv :P ).. have to keep an eye on her constantly.. to make sure she isn't getting into too much..

She has also taken to pulling herself up on furniture or me. :) I had to go save her the other day because she had pulled herself up by the couch and had started to fall backwards. She was barely hanging on to the edge of the couch and her little head was merely seconds away from hitting the coffee table. lol

Cant even turn my back long enough to get her her dinner now without her getting into some sort of trouble.
YAY!! TROUBLE!!

Was a good visit.. got to hang out with some old friends.. if you r reading this you know who you r.. lol
anyway.. Luc is doing really well.. he doesnt sound so robotic.. he is able to open his left hand some now.. able to walk a fair distance(still with help but thats better than nothing)
All in all im pretty impressed with him.. He isnt as impressed with himself as i am with him.. but he is stuck there all day everyday.. feeling like its taking too long... getting frustrated.

I miss him. The hospital he is in has sent out a request for him to be transfered to the long term rehab center in ponoca(spelling).
just between edmonton and red dear.
Hopeing, fingers crossed. Even if they accept him into their program it may take quite a long time for him to be able to actually go there. They are a Long Term rehab center.. meaning they may not have an open bed for a few months... i can imagine they may even not have room for him for up to a year..
I fear that.. means it will take that much longer for him to get the rehab he needs to function normally in society.
He did have a few outbursts while i was around.. Thankfully i talked him down from them.. Had one my first night in edmonton.. i wasnt there for it.. when i got back to the hospital from my hotel room, he was in the padded wheelchair in his room with the lights dimmed..(trying to calm him down by making him sleepy?)
He had the outburst right at the start of dinner... so he hadnt eaten..
I took him to the other hospital(royal alex) thru the tunnels and bought him a burger..
Took him out for dinner every night i was there. He seemed to enjoy it.
I really really hope he is accepted into the long term rehab.. :)

Anyway.. Karma had fun with her grandma and pa while i was in edmonton. She kept grandma up pretty much every night.. didnt want to sleep for some reason..
Poor grandma... lol
She didnt seem to miss me too much.. lol... but when i got back she immediately wanted me to pick her up.. whenever i would turn around to walk away..(even to the bathroom) she started to scream..
poor little girl with abandonment issues.. lol :)
Thats all i have to report for now.

Anyway. Karma did well on her flight(s). Take off in Grand Prairie, land in Edmonton. Stay on the plane. Take off, land in Calgary. Get off plane, hour layover. Get on plane and take off, land in Kelowna.
I hate flying.. I'm not a good flyer.
Karma did fine though.. until the Calgary to Kelowna part of the trip. No sooner had we gotten on the plane and she decided to poop. I have to place to change her.. she has to sit in it the whole trip. Not much I could do. Get off the plane, change her.
FLAMING red diaper rash.

It has taken 5.5 days so far to clear it up.
Poor little thing. She had so many firsts this trip.. First flights. First bum rash, and first cold.. Poor baby. :(

About time too..
Now im not paying everytime i need to go get something..
Yeah it costs more for things like maintenance, fuel, etc.
but over a long period of time, it can get pretty expensive taking a cab everywhere.. would take the bus.. if it ran more frequently, and had more stops.
Anyway, its a 2000 ford windstar. pretty good deal, they had it listed for 11,900 but i got it at 6,995..
good stuff.
will post pics of it later sometime.. maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon.
Karma is starting to really try to crawl :)
its cute.. she more or less pulls herself along with her arms..

but i have some good news.
Looks like Luc is starting to come out of his post traumatic amnesia.
A couple of days ago i told him our phone number... then had him repeat it to me a few times..
well the last 4 digits of our # are 2041.. the next day, when i asked him what our # was, he said our number was 2014.
close but not quite right.. i told him again what it was and ever since then he remembers..
:)
only problem now is that he is starting to show his temper.
not so good. but at least it was expected.
:(
where he damaged his brain(his left orbital fracture and the consequent trauma to the brain directly behind it)his left frontal lobe, controls personality, motor skills, and temper.
So, now they have to start dealing with that..
I have now had to reinterate to him, at the nurses request, that hitting is wrong...
I told him it is ok to vocalize as opposed to lashing out physically.
anywho.. this is actually a good thing, even the nurses said so. It means he is getting stronger and healing some.
sigh.. lol
well.. will post more when i know more..

The hospital staff were all really nice. Luc is doing so well, he was able to squeeze my hand with his left hand(the one he couldnt move). He is wheeling himself around pretty good(pulling himself along with his right leg and trying with his left one as well, but not as much or as well). He didnt ramble much when i was there. For example, he didnt say the word "executive" once the whole time i was there. For those of you that have missed some of my posts, he was using a random word to fill in the blanks for a while there. He didnt do that once the whole time i was there.

It was so sweet. :) I held Karma on his knee and asked if he wanted to give her a little bouncy horsey ride on his knee. So he gently bounced her and would keep reaching out to her then pull his hand back.. I asked him if he wanted her off his knee and he said" No, i just dont want to drop her":) He is being such a good daddy.
He tried to put her sucky in her mouth for her, but he couldnt reach her at the angle she was at to him. He saw me play with her nosey and reached up and did it too. He was always soooooo very gentle with her. I was really impressed. I helped him open his xmas gifts, he read all the cards. Then he tried to help open Karma's gifts for her, so she wouldnt be able to eat the paper :)

Talked to the Rec. Therapist while i was there. He came in on boxing day with his two little poodles. One of them licked Karma and she started to cry :) it was cute. He has set up an email addy for Luc. Friday before i left he emailed me a message. He did really well for only using one hand. There were some random letters and numbers in there but for the most part he kept on track with his message. And apparently the rec therapist was impressed with how well luc did on the computer. I guess luc sat and played solitaire for about 45 mins one day. :)

LOL.. at one point while i was there, i had gotten luc a coffee. My parents called my cell and we talked with them.. Luc was done talking to my dad so he handed me the phone and wanted his coffee..(which i was holding for him) I mentioned to luc that the lid wasnt on properly, and my dad asked what was going on. I told him i was just helping luc with his coffee and holding it for him. So my dad laughed and called me lucs coffee bitch.. :)
i laughed and luc asked what my dad had said.. so i told him.. Luc laughed and said" If i called you my bitch you would make sure i hit the floor" :)
lol
He still has a really good sense of humor even with all his injuries.

Any way. Lots of good things happened while i was there. Got absolutely no pics unfortunatly. Forgot the camera.. got a little video footage of him opening his and karma's presents but ended up at the end of the tape :(
will post some pics of Karma on her site soon :P

Going to Edmonton for Christmas

Any way. She told me that Luc is pretty much par for the course as far as his mental state. This is the time when they start to get down and very confused.. hence the fact that he has been making stuff up. He was even mad at me last night for "denying our son ", tyler or trevor or something like that. lol.. Yeah he thinks we have 2 kids.. and one of them is a boy who is older than Karma.
Only temporary though.. thank god.
He seems to be doing well.. the nurses i have spoken with seem really nice too.
so, anyways..
not much going on in my life at the moment. Got guardianship and stuff of Luc. So now i can cut down on things like cable to save some money.. possibley get a vehicle..
oh well.. more later.

I had spoken to his nurse earlier in the day.. she said that they had to put a net of some sort around his bed so he wouldnt climb out and hurt himself.... since he has been trying to get out..
So when i spoke to him on the phone i asked him if he was trying to get out of bed. He said yeah. I asked if they put the netting up so he wouldnt get up, fall over, and hit his head. He said " yeah, but i screwed them!" so of course i asked him how he screwed them.. his response was"because i didnt hit my head!" lol
So innocent in some ways. I told him i missed him a bunch. He said that he has been missing me lots, for like the past 3 days. :)
I love him..
When I was about to get off the phone with him, he told me to say hi to everyone for him. I told him to behave and no matter how much he wants to do or not to do something, he has to do what the nurses and doctors tell him to do. He said he would try. I guess (when i called the other day) his nurse told me he wasnt wanting to eat much. I told them to tell him that his wife wants him to eat so his brain can get better and he can come home. Well the nurse told him that this morning during breakfast, and he told her" thats funny, thats what my wife always says". :)
so his memory is getting a bit better..
He also asked to call his wife this morning..
He asked me today when im gonna come to see him.. I told him as soon as i can afford to.
He must be lonely there.. but at least his mom and fred are there as of tonight(in edmonton) and they are gonna be there till monday (when their flight leaves). So he will have some company.:)

:) yay!! this means he will be getting even better from here on in.
got up at 6:30 am to go see him before they shipped him out. Karma did good for getting woken up to run out of the house before 7am..
I told him he should say bye to his baby for now since he wont see her for quite a while. So he said bye sweety, daddy is gonna miss you. he even cuddled with her on his bed for a few minutes.. I got pissed off at one of the nurses.. He said he had to pee so she came in and just undid his attends and gave him the little portable urinal but left him lying down.. she didnt bother to get him sitting up or nothing. She also said that if he didnt go that she would just let him go in his attends and change him when he had finished. So when she left and luc said he wouldnt be able to pee like that I said to him, i know hunny, that nurse kinda erked me.. you are totally capable of getting up to pee, you just need help and for her to do that and say that(infront of him) is kinda degrading. It makes me mad for you i said. He looked down when she had left. Just because he has brain injury doesnt mean he cant understand her or feel embarrased(spelling sucks). He was definately embarrased by that.. After i told him that he said thanks hunny. and smiled at me.

It makes me feel good that he understands why i was upset at the nurse(cause i could tell he was upset by the situation too) and that he was thankful for my noticing it too. :)
He is so sweet.. he sorta remembered our phone # today.. only he said the first three digits where 503 which is a vernon #
He said he was gonna think of us everyday and try to get better for her(karma).
anywho.. im gonna go, gotta do dishes so karma has bottles for the rest of the night.

Oh, he moved his pointer finger on his left hand today.. and he is moving his left leg well while walking, although not the right one... ( We figure its cause he can support his weight on that leg and doesnt feel comfortable lifting it up for too long as he doesnt use his left leg for support.)

I can just imagine going to visit him in a few months and have him getting up to give me and the baby a hug. :)

Luc, I think, has a very good understanding of most of whats wrong with him. I guess he told the nurse yesterday that he has to give me power of attorney, and when she asked why he said that i would be in charge and could take care of the baby that way.. :)
She asked him why he thought he should do that.. He told her " my brain is wishy washy". :(
My poor, dear hubby. :(
He is thinking of me and the baby.
And today, when i went to see him, with our friend Rae anne, he was kinda down.
She asked him what he wanted for xmas, he said " to get better"
We both were kinda not sure what to say to that, so she asked him if there was anything else he might want.. He said he wanted to see me and the baby. So thats when i told him that there was a new sonic youth cd out(came out just around Karma's birth) and he finally said he might like that for xmas.. other than that i think he just doesnt want to be alone for xmas.
I dont blame him

I had to run out for a few mins after that.. told him i would come back later. He asked me to promise.. so of course i did.
When i came back (about an hour later) I went to find him in his room.. He was in there with one of the nurses.. I guess she was trying to cheer him up. He hadnt eaten lunch, and didnt seem too interested in doing so.
He told her he was sad cause i didnt stay to visit him longer. :( thats why he didnt want to eat..
So when i showed up i made him eat and promise not to worry even if i didnt come to see him.. cause he still had to eat to get better. He agreed and had his lunch. :)
yay.. he loves me :)

but he is getting there.. i just love how much he cares about his family :)
He talks about his mom all the time, he apparently talks about me and Karma alot when we arent there.. tells the nurses about his pretty little girl. :)
He even told the nurse he was proud of me.. :)

I went to see Luc yesterday..
So, he has been starting to show emotion, mostly joy.. little bits of laughing and smiling here and there, when he is in the mood to smile.
I guess its only right that since he has started to show one emotion he should start to show more of them.
Well, I had his music playing on the dvd player i bought him, and the song " I walk the line" came on...
he said to me..
"This is gonna make me sad" and I, being not terribly with it lately, asked him what was going to make him sad..(i was looking at the baby when i asked him this)
I looked up when he said "this song" because something sounded off..
Well he was right.. the song made him sad.. he was starting to tear up.
:( That was hard to see..
so i turned the music off and gave him a hug and told him everything was ok.. that its ok to cry but he didnt need to, because his friends and family love him and he is getting better, and i told him that before he knows it he will be on his way home..
Its horrible to see him upset like that.. and to not be able to fix it and make him happy.
But, in the sceme of things, it is a very very good thing that he is starting to do that.
He needs to be able to release his emotions.
Later on, when he is able to come home and such, he can choose to hold things back if he feels he needs to, but for now this is another big step forward.
He has also started to move his left thumb for me. :)
his left leg is getting there as well.. but that left hand and arm i have been sooooo worried about.. so... YAY!! Everything, no matter how small, is a huge improvement.
I cant imagine what he is going thru inside(as he doesnt really know how to express things totally yet) and how hard it must be for him to try to move his left side and have it not work totally for him.
He is trying, and that is the main thing.
In some ways im glad he will be going to Edmonton for his rehab, and that i wont be there for it..
It would be too hard to watch i think.. knowing he is getting frustrated and tired and such.
oh well..
oh!! btw.. i have been trying to post comments on a few peoples blogs, and blogger for some reason or another wont allow it..
dont know why, just hope that they will fix this problem soon..
so, Leslie, Tammy, Lovanda, and everyone else who doesnt get a post from me for a while, I keep trying and eventually i will comment on your blogs!! :P

from my cousin-in-law today. One of those multiple questions things that you answer and send to people to help them get to know you better.
One of the questions was do you believe in god. Good question. I answered "not always". But still, the question has actually been on my mind all day. I dont know.. maybe its because im having an off day (missing my husband, missing our life together, missing him in our babies life, etc) but I have felt really terrible about this question all day. I dont want to offend anyone who truly believes in God, because everyone is entitled to their beliefs and I feel that it must be really nice to have undying faith in something, but if there truly is a god... why let crappy things happen to good people? Like my husbands situation. Why him? Why not the assholes who drive stupidly for the road conditions and end up hurting someone else.... and the same for those who drink and drive and hurt or kill people in accidents, but they walk away without a scratch? Why someone who just had their first little baby, had just really started something big and new in his life? Why did this happen to my baby? Why her daddy? Why does she have to suffer and not have her father around? What did she do to deserve this? I went on utube last night. Was looking at the video of Karma giggling, and decided to look at some of the other video's of babies giggling(thought it would cheer me up). Know what I saw? Lots of video's of babies laughing at their daddies. Lots with mommies too, but guess who was video taping it? Daddy.
Why would a god let this happen?
Yeah, everyone keeps saying that god will not deal you hand that you cant deal with. Im fine with that for me.. Ive held it together so far.
Im alone up here. I have to raise our child alone..
Im getting by. But why, if there is a god, did he deal this hand to my baby? Every little girl needs her daddy. The only saving grace is that, at the moment, she is too little to understand. I know she wont remember this when she gets older. But what happens if Luc never recovers enough to come home? What do i tell her when she asks why she doesnt have a daddy? And if he can come home, its gonna hurt him so much when she doesnt know him and makes strange with him. On top of trying to take care of her, i will have to still keep a watchful eye on him, to make sure he is ok and that he is really ok with her. This is a lot to deal with.
I dont really know what to think. Is there a god? isnt there? if there is one, why did he let this happen? why not some pervert who molests kids? why not the rapists? serial killers?
If there is a god, is he gonna take care of us? Are things gonna get easier? or from this point on are they gonna stay hard?
Sorry. This has been on my mind all day.

i know that this is pretty much all i post about.. but his conversation skills are greatly improved from the last time i posted. He has very appropriate responses.. he can tell a couple of jokes..

I went to see him.. We had a totally clear and mostly understandable conversation last night.. he slipped up once and threw in a few of those random words..
so i repeated to him what he had just said. then i asked him" does that make sense to you?" He looked at me and said " are you mocking me?".. I was kinda caught off guard and had to tell him no and that i just wanted him to know what he had said so he could work on his communication skills.. and that i would never mock him for trying to talk and having it come out wrong... he said oh, ok.. thanks. Then he gave me a kiss and asked why he wasnt allowed to leave.. so i asked him if he remembered his accident. he said no, what happened.. so i told him about his left orbital fracture and that he damaged most of his brain. then i told him he was in a coma for 3 weeks.. and asked him if he knew what that meant. He said yeah, my brain was asleep. yay.. he knew!!
then he asked how long ago the accident was.. i told him.. 11 weeks.. he said shit.. and then he started talking about going to rehab to get smart.. lol
As far as im concerned he is still smarter than some people without brain injury... :)
he still spells better than i do, and is still better at math.. lol

Ive been meaning to post this, but have forgotten everytime i come online. :)
was about a week or so ago that i got word that he will be leaving..
:( i will miss him... well not like i dont miss "him" everyday
hopefully around x-mas i will be able to take Karma for a visit to see her daddy.. bring him some presents.
And when i get there hopefully he will be doing somewhat better.. maybe he will be walking :)
maybe he will talk more clearly..
He tends to throw in a few random words when he speaks now.. Like ontario, underwear, aspects, respect, relative. They tend to be every other word out of his mouth.. its like he cant find the right word and ends up saying one of those words instead..
like one day he told me " my aspect hurts" so i asked what his aspect was, to point at it. he touched his nose and said " my aspect... my .. my ... my nose."
and when i ask him if he understands every word i say to him he says yes.. and when i ask if he cant always make sense when he tries to talk he said yes i cant..
I think he knows what he wants to say, but it doesnt come out the way it does in his head.
hopefully he will have improved in that area once i see him around x-mas...
till then though i go see him everyday.. trying to get him to talk normally. Giving him love and affection..
the physiotherapist told me he does much better and its easier for her to do her job when i am there with him.. but i also bribe him to take steps with kiss's :)
so i think that helps..
Oh.. the other day i went in and he was writing..
I asked him to write i love you and he did.. then i asked him to write my name.. he said no.. i asked him " please? it will make me happy, and in return i will do something to make u happy." Well.. like any normal male his age, his head is in the gutter.. cause he looked at me.. and said......
"suck my weiner".....!!!!!!!!!!!! The nurse that was standing there just about busted a gut laughing !! so did i actually..so i know my hubby is still somewhat the man he once was :)

to be posting..
been back and forth from the hospital, visiting friends(to keep myself sane), raising my offspring, trying to keep myself together still... :)
Luc is still improving on a daily basis. He has recently started to move his left leg slightly when i ask him to do so for me.
he is also trying to open his left arm by himself.. mosly by pulling on it with his right hand. but he is still trying.
his sense of humor is kinda coming back..
His short term memory is totally gone.
can tell him the date and ten minutes later he doesnt know it.
:(
that is supposedly something that will come back(hopefully mostly) over time.
it seems like though if you tell him something for a week straight he gets it.
he knows he is in dawson creek now.. that im his wife, that we have a baby girl named Karma... etc..
for some strange reason he thinks my parents last name is my mothers maiden name though.. how he remembered the name "Tauffenbach" i will never know..
lol
anywho.. gotta run.. gotta get him some more cloths today, some plastic for the babies bedroom window(it snowed last night) and some weather stripping(my front door is drafty)

I went to see him again today.. :)
brought the baby :)
He knew who i was today.. im andrea maclean finally and im his wife..
Near the end of our visit I was holding Karma cause she was fussy... the nurse came in and asked luc who the baby was. He said "my daughter" then the nurse asked her name.. he told the nurse "karma"
:)
then she asked who i was, he said "Karma's mother." she asked him my name. he told her. then i asked but what am i to you, he said "my wife".. :)
he is doing friggin awesome :)
They have apparently been lifting him up and making him "walk" (kinda but not really, they hold him up) to the wheelchair when they put him in it.. easier than bringing out the lifting machine to get him into the chair :)
Only problem is right now, he thinks his friend Christine(whom he used to call his "sister"(he's an only child))is actually his sister.. he was very insistant that his sister christine came to see him in the edmonton hospital. :)
lol.. thats ok.. will remember stuff like that with time. :)
she will get a kick out of it when i tell her :)

So, my munchkin is getting so big.. she smiles at me now.. for about 2 mins before she starts to cry.. lol
Luc is doing incredible now!! he has conversations.. he was kissing my friends hand the other day..i told him " Hey !! You're married!! No kissing other girls" to which he replied" no kissing other boys" to me :)

He remembers me, but doesnt know we r married.. keeps telling me my last name is michaud.. my maiden name. but once i tell him we r married he seems to understand.. and when i ask him who i am he says " my wife."
They pulled his feeding tube out the other day, because he is eating smushy foods and drinking on his own. :)
well, you still have to feed him but he has taken the spoon away and tried a few times to feed himself.
Apparently all he has to be able to do now is have control of his bladder and bowel.. he can tell you when he is wet so it probably wont be long now till he can go to a rehab facility. :)
He will probably be transfered to the Glenrose back in Edmonton..
so far away from me, his baby, his mom, his dad.. basically everyone who loves him
but its for the best. then he will be able to eventually come home to me :)
I miss him. :(
but its getting there.
I just have to look at this as "it could have been worse" . He woke up from the vegitative state, he survived the crash... he'll make it home too.. :)

Took Karma to see Daddy today!!

It was cool.. I told him that if he smiled at Karma she might smile back at him since she has gotten pretty good at smiling. He smiled at her 3 times in an effort to get her to smile back at him.. he kept reaching out to touch her, and he tried to grab her once.. I had to take her away from him then so that he didnt break her little leg. He still grips pretty tight and doesnt let go...
but he kept on kissing her on the head when i put her close enough for him to do so. He kissed her bye today as well. He really seemed to enjoy it when the nurse helped me lean her on his shoulder.. (she held his hand away so that he wouldnt grab her and possibly hurt her..) But all in all it was a good day for him i think. He got to see his baby girl and touch her and kiss her. I'm just really happy that he made the attempt to smile at her in the hopes she would smile back. :) He hasn't smiled for me at all since one time in edmonton. :)
This made my day, I think he remembers her and wants to be able to hold her and be the good daddy to her that i keep telling him he is. The fact that he tried to smile for her was awesome!!

He got in at around 8:30 last night.. I am just hoping his mom understands that I had nothing to do with where he was being transfered too... I just got a call telling me he was coming home.. thats all. He seems to be doing considerably better from sunday even. :)
When I told him i love him he whispered that he loves me too, then when i said i miss him he told me that he missed me too. :)
He seems to have gained a little more control of his right hand, he no longer squeezes it to the point you think your fingers might break, and he reached up to me. He wasnt moving his hand from his chest area before. The nurses said that this may be hard for them, because he was always looking to me when the nurse asked him something.. like he wanted to have me ok it that he answered.. Not such a good thing.. but i think it means he recognizes me and is looking to me for support. :)
He definately seems more with it...
more later.. gonna take Karma to see him today as long as she isnt a screamy baby today..(she slept all day yesterday.. so she may be wide awake and screamy today)

The U of A Hospital called me this morning to let me know that Luc is being flown out of Edmonton today and will be transfered to the Dawson Creek hospital.. so he is coming home, kinda. He will be here tonight at around 7:30 pm in the hospital.. will be able to take Karma to go see her daddy!! :)
Hopefully seeing her will help bring him out of this.. :)
Will keep everyone posted as to his progress.

Ok, so, talked to his nurse today, says he is awake, said his name yesterday when asked what his name was....hasnt spoken since.
responds to verbal commands, like " squeeze my hand" and stuff like that,,,
follows with his eyes,,,, can hear things..
going to edmonton weds night.. will be there actually thurs morning,,,, gonna be gone a couple days, post more when i get back... my mom is sooooo nice to take baby again while i go to hubby.... please everyone keep up the prayers, they seem to be working... :P :)

Luc still is in a coma. There have been some minor improvements though.. he now brings his arms up when they suction his trach out.. he has also started to move his feet.. as of friday he hadnt done any of that. he isnt on life support.. he breaths and his heart beats on its own. He isnt braindead.. there is activity, otherwise he wouldnt be moving (or living without machines). Ken, anytime you are there feel free to go visit him.. he is in u of a hospital.. once he is out of the neurosurgical icu i think you can go visit him in the recovery room... they are just waiting for a bed for him to open up. And any of his other friends that want to visit, just remember to talk to him and hold his hand and stuff.. i truly think it helps.. he hadnt done any improving his whole time in hospital, and after a solid day of familiar loving contact he started to improve...
more later as i find things out...

She was born at 7:55am Saturday July 22, 2006. 5lbs 11oz of supersonic baby. 6 hours of labour and 12 to 14 pushes, so, quick and painful. Been busy taking care of her, so I wont be posting much for now. To see more pics go to Sadgoat's blog, but I don't know who he is, or how he got the pics but, that is where you will find them.

I am currently 4 days overdue and still nothing. Had a dr. appt. yesterday. Going in on Saturday(tomorrow) to have a fetal test strip done. Basically a prolonged relaxing period for me where they see how the baby is doing. Hopefully I go into labour this weekend, otherwise they will want to induce me by about Monday. :(
I have been told that when you are induced the labour pains are harder and hurt ever so slightly more. I am not looking forward to that if that happens to be the case.

In other news I still have a whole house to unpack.. hopefully get some of it done before baby shows up...

This friggin sucks!!

Well.. we all know that I am due anytime now.. Dr. said within a week. Now for the sucky part. My hubby and myself are moving. First off, there is f@*$ all for rent in this town. The only place available is the place we r moving into. We were originally told we could move in for sure by July 1st, possibly mid June. Then, due to the new carpets not coming in, we were then bumped to the 10th of July. Then due to lack of workers, the 15th of July. Talked to the lady on Tuesday. She said for sure by the weekend we could start moving in. Today however, when my hubby went in to see if he could get the keys tomorrow to start moving on Saturday, he was told not till probably Monday or Tuesday.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the f*#@!!!
So of course we are not impressed.. Hubby said "I want an exact date!!" the man that was there(head of maintenance) said Tuesday.
I hope i dont go into labour before or during the move, as my due date is actually Monday. :(
Hubby is stressed. I am stressed. We r moving by ourselves, which really means he is moving by himself, as I am pretty much incapable at this time of helping him move things like beds, 200lb trunks, couch's, etc.
I also hope that we can actually move in Tuesday like they said, as Hubby is going to start switching things like hydro and what-not over for that date.. Will really be unimpressed if we have no heat, hot water, etc. cause we dont have anything hooked up here and are unable to be in the new place, paying for those utilities that we cant use.

This is stage one of this project!! I cast my belly yesterday and now that it is dry enough I am going to trim the edges today and put a thin layer of plaster on it so that tomorrow I can sand it smooth. At a later date I will be taking it and spray painting it bronze and hanging it on the wall... lol
Just wanted something to remember pregnancy by as I dont think I will have anymore after this one.. unless its an oops.. :)

Eventful Weekend

The Hubby and I went out for a drive yesterday(saturday) and ended up going thru this hole in the wall town about an hours drive away from here. We decided to investigate further and drove down this long backroad. There were deer everywhere!! So we decided to go "hunting" and shot several deer, as we had our trusty camera with us!! :)
Only one of the pictures turned out visibly though. Here is the nice big doe that was grazing at the side of the road when we stopped...

Unfortunately she decided to turn and saunter away before my hubby got the shot. :( So we all get a great shot of her butt!!

Today was world cup finals!!
YAY!! ITS OVER!!

Hubby got his Italian goalie replica jersey yesterday in the mail and decided to wear it all afternoon and all night and all day today to help his favourite team win..
Apparently it worked as Italy won the cup :)
Hubby kinda stinks now though. ;) :P
France's team captain pulled a really shitty move and out of anger, not even during play, he decided to headbutt one of the Italy players in the chest. Because, I think, the Italian was guarding him too closely. Thats the gist of what I saw..
So, even though my ancestors were from France, Yay to Italy, the better sportsmen.

So it looks like my mom is definately not coming up to help me birth my baby!! :(
She fell and tore her ACL :( and it is draining blood into a capsule thingy in her knee joint.. she had to have it drained the other day via very large needle.. :( gross :)

but some news to update on..
Our house in Vernon has been sold now. So, we are currently looking (in vane) for another house up here to buy. So far no such luck.. everything that doesnt need a shitload of work is about 50,000 to 100,000 over our price range. And the ones in our range all have water seepage issues. Bleah..
It makes me nervous... dont want our kid in this crackshack appartment.. :(
anywho,,, my gumpy came up for a visit..(grandpa) him and his lady friend, hazel, are up visiting some of her family in Fort St. John. It was nice to see a familiar face today :)
other than that.. not much to report... getting bigger,, my stomach feels like its about to burst most days now.. only one week left of work.. and from there going to Vernon for a few...
time to go eat something... :)

Im getting boring in my old age.. lol.
Nothing new has been happening around here..
I started to make a baby blanket :) its cute. has blue, green, pink, and purple in it so I figure it should be ok for whatever sex the baby is. :)
went and bought some newborn diapers, penaten creme, baby wash, baby lotion, brush and comb, washclothes, wipes, and nursing pads and boob cream for me :) lol
At very least the baby will be clean..lol.. even if my house isnt always that way :P
baby stuff is friggin expensive.. and since i probably wont be having a baby shower(as all those that care are not living here :P ) I have decided to start buying things that i would normally get at a shower.. baby clothes are sooooo hard to chose from.. especially when i dont know if im having a boy or a girl.... :(
My stomach is feeling strange.. or the baby belly part is..
when i am laying down and relaxed and breath in, it feels like my lower stomach is now stretched to the point where it is tights.. never felt my skin feel like that before.. all you moms out there probably know what i mean.. but for those of you who havent had kids yet(or are men) it is a really strange feeling...

So Luc and I both fell asleep on the couch last night, and when we both woke up the cable was out.. sorta.
We have digital cable, and there was no picture.. but normally when the cable goes out the listings go blank as well. Well the listings were there. but no picture. Weird. We proceeded to call shaw and they were asking about our connection and stuff. I guess they thought we had just somehow unplugged it. Then I went to check the computer, as it is on shaw digital as well, in fact it is on the very same cable as the tv is. So, ok, yay!! we have internet at least.. so Luc tells the shaw guy this over the phone. He then asked if there was a problem in the are.. a few mins later the man came back with "yes, there seems to be something going on there.. and i will inform a repair man".
So i went to bed. Got up this morning, still no cable.. but still have internet.. did someone out there hit something they shouldnt have?
Anywho. gotta get ink for printer next week.. then will be able to scan baby pics in.. tried taking pics with the digital camera, and its not working..

Had my ultrasound yesterday.. the little parasite is growing normally and is healthy so far :)
It is sooo cute:)

The woman who did the exam was really nice.. even though she couldnt tell us the sex she was going to try to take a look at the butt end to let us try and see for ourselves what sex it was... but the little bugger wouldnt let us see :( shy lol
had its legs crossed right over its bum.

I will be posting the ultrasound pics as soon as i can.
My printer/scanner/copier wont work to do anything at the moment because its out of ink and wont function without. :( too bad.. but will soon try to post the pics... :)

Getting bigger Yet?

It is kinda strange. I havent really gotten any bigger.. well i have and i havent.. my stomach is sorta just changing shape and getting harder.
Anyone who knew me when i left Vernon knows I pretty much put my weight on around the stomach.. and that i kinda looked preggers anyway.
but I'm still wearing the same pant size as when i left.. and in fact have lost 2 kg since becoming preggers.. probably from eating better.
But that is besides the point.. and i am carrying soo friggin high up that i cant really eat much at one time...
sorry, getting off track here.. my point is .. i know i am pregnant, ive heard the heartbeat, etc.. but i dont feel like im looking anymore pregnant than i did when it was just fat..

strange.. im worried about looking like a whale, but im wanting to be bigger?
hormones are wonderful things.. getting a fuzzy belly.. lol
oh well.. at least i work with people who do waxing.. hehe
that will be fun eh?
for all you men out there.. you should really thank your wives for being the ones to carry the baby to term.. I am sure some of you would do it if your bodies were ment for it.. but pregnancy is wonderful and so very sucky at the same time..
crying, laughing, getting angry for no apparent reason is trying emotionally..
i personally feel like a basket case for the most part of my days... not knowing how i will react when something tough comes my way. Oh and feeling totally and utterly icky looking..
I kinda feel ugly, and i am constantly looking to luc for reasurance.
But he doesnt seem to take me too seriously. thats tough to deal with too..
I am feeling down and kinda big and yet not, and im worried that as i get bigger he is gonna be less attracted to me. im hoping that this is normal and im not just mentally unbalanced( quite in the peanut gallery!!)
Oh well..

so I thought I should probably do so..
Not much going on. Back to work now. Tired, and am getting to the point where I can't wait until I'm off work for Mat leave.
My dad had his angioplasti.. Guess he is doing ok.. He will probably be going back to work soon. Hubby and myself got to hear the babies heartbeat on Valentines day.
That was a first for him.. my second time.
Baby is doing good so far.. Im carrying pretty high up at the moment. Makes it hard to eat much at any given time.
Other than that I really dont have too much to say, so I guess I will post more at a later time. When i have something to post about.

i work today then have to take 2 weeks off work... my bp is back up... :(
no money coming in.. sucks butt.
that and i think it may be pissing my boss off too...
she seemed a little put out by the doc's note yesterday...

doesnt make me want to continue working..... makes me feel like crap.
I think she wont want me back after maternity leave...
oh well.. lots of other work up here..

anywho.. on the bright side dano will be here in 2 more days and i guess that means he wont have to just hang out by himself while he is here... as i will be off..
yay for that i guess... :)
my daddy is in vancouver by tomorrow he will be having an angioplasty... i dont know about the bypass yet... not sure if they will do it then or wait till later...

is in the hospital... has 3 blockages in his arteries.. one is 99% one is 60% and another they arent sure of.. so he is going to be flown probably to vancouver for a bypass surgery...

LATEST BREAKING PREGNANCY NEWS!!

So.... I have high blood pressure... and apparently its high enough to make the emergency room doctor kinda worry.
He told me to get into my dr asap to keep an eye on the bp.
He also said a possibility of bedrest may be in my future..
sigh.
so.. home i came to talk to my mother about it, and, lo and behold she too had high bp.
bad enough she ended up in hospital when she was preggers with me. And my sis had high bp as well.
kinda worries me.. to be off work at the end of 3 months?!?! already?!?!
Not something i expected as i was having a great pregnancy so far. No morning sickniss, no other problems.. all was going so well... :(
oh well..
I had been having strange headaches... just a normal headache... not as bad as a migrane... but with double vision, no periferal vision, and swirling lights in the corners of my eyes...
the last straw was when the side of my mouth went totally numb.... Like when youve been to the dentist and he has frozen you...
That only lasted like 5-10 mins.. but still scared the shit out of me.. so off to the hospital we went and the above is what i found out..
130 over 100!!

Well, a new year... again..
Time seems to go by so fast!
Well I'm just about out of my first trimester! yay!
Im hoping that the headaches go away when i get into my 2nd trimester but if not i guess i cant complain too much! No morning sickness so far! lucky for me! yay!
anywho! not too long now till we get to have a little visit with dano!
he will be coming up here the end of this month! yay! a friend!!

but my father in law had a heart attack so luc and i had to drive down to regina!! ewww.. flatland!! lol
he is doing fine now and is out of the hospital... :) so thats good! just in time for christmas!! :)
my computer was also taken over by spyware and viruses when i got home so... formatted 3 times to get it back up and running properly!... friggin sucks!
Got some really nice picks of the sun rising in alberta though... when we left... it was strange... the roads were completely clear all the way from here, thru alberta, and up until North Battleford...(sask)
from there though there was snow all over... no snow in bc or alta! cool.. well at least not this far north..
anywho... gonna go to work now! :)

Im an auntie 3 times over now!! My sister had to 3rd baby last night! I'm so happy!! another little girl!! so now she has Zada, Gage, and Sidney(im not sure if thats how she will spell it though!!) It's really exciting! apparently it only took 2 pushes.. but she was in labour all day yesterday! and apparently all back labour :(
I hope i dont have back labour!!! ..... so many babies, so little time!! i dont think i will even get to meet her in person till after i have my baby though :( that's never happened before.. i was living just around the corner basically when she had each of the other 2.. so i got to see them within a day of being born! :( oh well.. guess i will have to wait :)
